Yet Jonathan Woodgate, exceptional against Larsson on Saturday, believes an old friend and unlikely hero is lurking in the wings.
Woodgate said: “People shouldn’t forget Alan Smith.
“I’m sure they’ll bring Alan back and he’s a fantastic striker as well.
“He’s had to wait very patiently for his chance after coming back from a bad leg break and hopefully he’ll play against us in the replay.
“I know I’ll not get any peace if we’re up against each other at Old Trafford. He’s still a top player.
“People say United are weaker now Larsson’s left but Alan can fill that hole and be a big player for them again.
“I don’t want him to score against us but I hope he gets a goal on Saturday and then a few more over the rest of the season, because he’s not only a really good player, but a top lad as well. He’s always been very tough mentally, a real tough cookie.
“I’m sure the injury won’t have affected him in any way.
“You have to be strong to be a professional and he showed just how much he could handle things when he moved from Leeds to Manchester United.”

3月都是忙得不可開交的日子，我快要變人乾了…但我仍然以僅餘的精力追看上星期買下來的《再給我一天》（For One More Day），大概今晚就會看完吧！故事實在寫得很動人，越看越覺得主角跟自己很相像（拜託！為甚麼我總是覺得自己跟Mitch Albom筆下的主角很相似？我真是那麼糟嗎？-_-）我跟他們唯一不同的地方，是我還可以選擇，還可以讓自己不後悔……
