Get sick and was at home on Friday. Before visiting the clinic, I spent some times watching "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". I felt like I must write something about it.. Surely it's one of those best films in the world and the plot (of course) is splendidly written. But clouds of doubts troubled my mind so much that I just can't get them away. Is life like this? Twee and pointless? Woohoo.. Really close to that.
Well at first I thought it would be like some shaggy-puppy movies, and it turns out leaving me utterly speechless. It accomplished so much through such simplicity. This film demands you to feel not only for the death we witness, but for the inevitable life we discover. See... No one can escape from death, nor do anything can stay eternally. It looks so easy to comprehend but when we really have to encounter, it's something much harder to come to terms. We all may deal with moral issues and everyone goes through the same joys and grievances, just not in the same way. So what does it tell us? What do we deserve? Ironically everyone is equal upon death. Nothing more than a zero.
Here are some of the quotes I'd like to share:
You can be as mad as a mad dog at the way things went. You could swear, curse the fates, but when it comes to the end, you have to let go.
I was thinking how nothing lasts, and what a shame that is.
It's a funny thing about coming home. Looks the same, smells the same, feels the same. You'll realize what's changed is you.
