hen I was a primary two child, an event happened on me that I think is the most shame experience on my whole life. Even if I should to become a sophisticated and persistent elder man, I would not face this incident more easefully.
On the summer holiday of primary two, I went to my father’s hometown where in Kuang Tung province to visit my grandmother and stayed in there for about two weeks. My grandmother lived in a village where hadn’t been developed so modern. Therefore, the village had preserved some woods and other natural environment. She lives in her houses only by herself, where the houses have a several bungalows. Particularly, there has a mini dense bamboo forest beside a small lake in the back courtyard of the houses, where separate my grandmother’s house and the huts of my grandfather’s brother. There is a good place for evade the hot weather. I always went to there and play whatever I saw.
One day, when I had got up, cleaned up my face and had my breakfast, I went to the back courtyard to play immediately as usual. I find some flatted stones in the bamboo forest and then threw it on to the lake surface. Afterward, I had threw all my stones and found there had no any stones in the bamboo forest. So I went to the bank close to the small lake. I found and found, collected and collected more stones, but suddenly, I didn’t look out my step and slipped into the lake! On that time I hadn’t learned any swimming skills. I was going to sink to the lake bottom. I just cried: “Help! Help! Helppoooo…” and I thought I would no longer survive. At the chaos I had hear my aunt (wife of grandfather’s brother) yelled: “Ah Hei (grandmother’s name)! Your grandson is falling down into the lake!” Immediately, my grandma took a stick and stretched it to me. I hold it very very tightly and she pulled me up on the bank. I had got survived at last!
After this incident had happened, I found I should look out my step at every bank beside water. And when I had come back to Macao I rushed to learn swimming in a minute!
