Effects of Climate Change on beachfront properties 鬱悶 分類: 未分類

Last week in all around the world they have a globalization event, which is call “Earth Hour”. According to the Earth Hour wed side, this event is “All the 24 global cities participated in Earth Hour at 8pm on March 29, 2008. Earth Hour is the highlight of a major campaign to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to take the simple steps needed to cut their emissions on an ongoing basis. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty, to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby.” (Earth Hour, 2008) Does anyone ever think about why they started to have “Earth Hour”? Why people are talking about saving power? Why people always thinking about how to do more environmental protection? The answer is very easy; everyone knows that is because of the Climate Change.

Climate Change can start so many different natural disasters; the most horrible one should be sea level rising.

Global Warming will melts the ice of two-pole, which will rise the average sea level, so that will decrease the area of lands and that submerge many cities where are around of below sea level.

According to Using Sea Level Rise Projections for Urban Planning in Australia :

In many parts of the world, land is still rebounding from the weight of the great ice sheets of the last Ice Age (for instance, Scandinavia ; Lambeck et al., 1998). Comprehensive models of these effects have been developed ( Lambeck and Johnston, 1998; Peltier, 1998). In addition, many measurements of variables related to sea level have shown that sea level has varied with changes in ice volume during and since the last glacial period (Shackleton, 1987; Yokoyama et al., 2000). Local isostatic effects can be very large, larger than the rate of global average sea level rise caused by global warming, and need to be assessed for the region under consideration(Journal of Coastal Research, Vol. 20, No. 2, pp. 586-598, 04/2004,© 2004, Coastal Education and Research Foundation).

The sea level rise and lands around the sea or beachfront will sink under the water, many land will disappear in years and people will loss their home, their life. Counties loss their money and so on.

Climate Change is already happening now, you can see from your daily life, the effect of Climate is really huge. The whether is not as good as before isn’t it? It’s time to stop being stupid, start to do something good for families. After you know why Climate Change happens, now is time to do something. Do something good do something smart, stop the Climate change today.
