Michael Sattler
Michael Sattler (1490-1527) was a monk, left the Roman Catholic Church during the Protestant Reformation. He become a leaders of the Anabaptist movement. He is effectif because he developed the Schletheim Conffession
He born in about 1490 in Staufen, Germany, he become a monk in the cloister of St. Peter and became prior.He left in 1525. That year he traveled to Zurich, then he embroiled in controversy over infant baptism. He became associated with the Anabaptists and rebaptised in the summer of 1526. He was involved in missionary activity around Horb and Rottenburg, and last he want to Strasbourg. In February of 1527 he chaired a meeting of the Swiss Brethren at Schleitheim, at which time the Schleitheim Confession was adopted.
The time of May, 1527, The Roman Catholic authorities aressted Sattler,also with his wife and the other Anabaptists. He was sentenced to be executed as a heretic. As part of his execution, his tongue was cut out, red hot tongs tear two pieces of flesh from his body.the tongs were used on him five more times. He was taken outside the city by wagon, brned at the stake. The other anabaptists men were executed by sword, and women were executed by drowning.
Menno Simons (1496 – 31 January 1561) was a Anabaptist religious leader.HE was a contemporary of the Protestant Reformers and his followers became known as Mennonites.
Menno Simons was born in 1496 in Witmarsum, Friesland.He grew up in a disillusioned and war torn country.
He learned Latin and some Greek,also taught about the Latin Church Fathers during his training to become a priest.He never read the bible before this training.Afer this he not fear his sin anly more, he became sedused ,he called himself stupid when later he relected this period.
Around 1526 -1527,Menno Simon start to search of the bible for the question about dotrine of transubstantiation,he find that he had not study enough,even being a priest.
His first knowledge of the concept of "rebaptism", A renewed search of the made Menno Simons believing that infant baptism is not in theBible.
Menno Simons rejected the Catholic church and the priesthood.Casting he lot with the Anabaptists. His date of baptism is unknown,Menno Simons rejected the violence advocated by the Münster movement, believing it was not Scriptural.His theology was focused on separation from this world, and baptism by repentance symbolized this.
Menno evidently rose quickly to become a man of influence.By 1544, the term Mennonite or Mennist was used in a letter to refer to the Dutch Anabaptists.
After his renunciation of Catholicism 25 years , Menno died on 31 January 1561 at Wüstenfelde, Holstein, and was buried in his garden.He was married to a woman named Gertrude, and they had at least three children, two daughters and a son.
