As each year Clubic, the return is accompanied by a comparative laptops. So we met 7 models from the best known manufacturers in order to provide an overview, albeit not exhaustive, but representative of the current market.
Three criteria have made this selection: first we wanted to combine in this versatile model comparison, which logically led us to a screen diagonal of 15.6 inches, both large enough to allow multimedia use, and small enough to not have to deal with a chassis too heavy and cumbersome. Damage in passing that no manufacturer has chosen to mount the definition beyond the endless 1366 by 768 pixels ...
We then attempted to represent a large number of manufacturers, each with its specificities. Despite our requests, neither Dell nor MSI could not provide us with test machines. Finally, we, like every year, set a price criterion. If we had climbed up to € 700 in our previous comparison, we restricted budget this time to 600 euros. A range of prices where supply is currently rich and seems consistent with a medium to long term investment that students achieve their entry into higher education, or consent to that which a family seeking to equip the first time, or including hardware, obsolete, should be replaced.
What do we have at this price? A computer that can be described as "versatile" So, not too heavy and has a relatively reasonable autonomy for mobile use, with a dedicated graphics card for a little game, in short, an interesting compromise (but not perfect, of course) between power and low fuel consumption. The generalized generation Intel Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge or AMD Trinity advent, succeeding the Llano solutions are of course essential levers in finding this balance. But no false promises here: these seven models are primarily intended for office use.
In addition to the synthetic tests and practices, we learn a little about the potential of different machines, will focus therefore of particular importance to the ergonomics of these phones: the use, the touchpad is it nice, the keyboard is it sufficiently ventilated, reflections on the screen they are not too annoying? All questions that should be asked before investing to find the notebook that suits you best.

Autonomy: test protocol
Autonomy is a criterion oh so important when it comes to laptops. This is why we decided to design a test-house, to overcome the weakness of software like Battery Eater, which can give a representative result of using a mobile phone. Simply because such software will solicit exaggerated all components of the PC. The results are greatly biased, especially for phones with a processor Core i7 as a gourmand, so that it does not consume so much more than the Core i3 rest ...
We have developed a tool capable of measuring more significantly the autonomy of our laptops. Our software will therefore:
start playback full screen video;
open a PDF file and navigate inside;
do the same with an RTF file (in Wordpad);
launch the compression and decompression (with Winrar) a file;
start playing an audio file;
ten tabs open Firefox Web pages stored on our servers (so that they do not vary).
All these operations are repeated in a loop until the computer's battery dies. All these tasks use different centers are vital in our phones and use more real what happens away from the adapter. Finally, note side settings, the Wi-Fi module is active, the brightness is set to 200 cd / m² and the volume at half power, while the PC is placed in power-saving mode.
