Some weddings make my heart beat a bit faster and this elegant-meets-vintage affair is one of them. From Palermo Photo... I am so thrilled to share with you this beautiful wedding from this beautiful couple. Kate and Danny were married on August 16, 2014. This Brooklyn-based couple decided to swap the Big Apple for the ‘Burgh to exchange vows in the Bride's hometown. It was truly a family affair, with sentiment and family ties woven throughout the wedding day. The bride wore two necklaces tucked beneath the intricate lace of her gown – an heirloom necklace from the bride's grandmother and the groom's grandmother. The bride also held a lace handkerchief with her bouquet, a Puerto Rican tradition from the groom's family. Speaking of the groom, he was a beacon of style and class, yet still sentimental and family-focused, donning a vintage YSL tuxedo that belonged to his Prom Dresses UK father.

The sun shone bright on the happy couple as they entered the Pittsburgh Golf Club to share drinks and dances with friends and family, after saying "I do" at the Epiphany Church in downtown Pittsburgh. Fun was had by all, between the tears and hugs of course.

A quick trip back to the beginning: these two smitten kittens met freshman year in college at Fordham University in New York. As these things often go, they were great friends but star-crossed, one was always taken when the other was single, and visa versa, until one fateful moment arrived senior year at Fordham that brought these two lovebirds together. Danny and Kate have been together ever since, and now are happily married!

From The Bride... Danny and I live in New York, but we decided to get married in Pittsburgh, where I grew up and where my parents live. We're so glad we did! It was so special showing our friends and families a city that we both love. I'm not the kind of bride who relished the idea of spending tons and tons of time planning a wedding, so doing so from another city also allowed us to take a pretty laid back approach to everything. (My mom helped tremendously as well!) I wanted our wedding to have a garden party feel to it, so the Pittsburgh Golf Club, Prom Dresses UK which sits on a golf course in the largest park in the city, was the perfect setting for our reception. The Golf Club and the Church of the Epiphany, where we were married, are both Pittsburgh historic landmarks, so we wanted to the wedding to have a simple, timeless feel. We incorporated a lot of items and traditions from both of our families – I wore necklaces from his grandmother and my grandmother, and my wedding band was my other grandmother's. I also carried a white lace handkerchief with my bouquet, a tradition from Danny's family. Aesthetically, I wanted our wedding to have an romantic, floral, classic, sort-of vintage vibe to it. Loose bouquets, white hydrangeas and Queen Anne's lace with some light pink wax flowers and pops of bright green. Very garden-y, and an (understated) flower crown on me! We just wanted our wedding to be a really fun party, with great music (anything from Beyonce to Al Green to the Talking Heads) and LOTS of dancing because our friends and family are big on dancing. And special thanks goes to our vendors, most especially Maria Palermo, who is not only an amazing photographer but also hilarious and patient and fun.
