Ch.2 Strange Call
When I arrive home, I ran upstairs and switch on my Mac book. I was still very angry about the woman I met in the shop.
I searched “Magic Meadow” in Google. But nothing can be searched. I kept on thinking who that woman can be. After a while, I gave up and sat on the gossip websites again and tried not to think about that woman.
I wished I am in New York or Vancouver, so many Hollywood stars are there, filming, celebrating etc. New York and Vancouver gave me a feeling of modern city. Unlike Jacksonville. Maybe Downtown is great, but definitely not in Arlington.
Time passed by. I sat in front of the computer every day.
“Kris, why don’t you just hang out with your friends? Leah? Ashley?” Steve finally spoke to me about this.
“Ste…Dad, I am fine. You know I don’t like hang out and I am so happy being at home. Yea…” What a bad excuse for it.
“Okay. But you should…” The phone rang. Thanks God. Steve ran downstairs to answer the phone. How lucky am I. I could not hear what Steve was talking to the phone. I slightly closed the door to prevent him from rushing to my room.
There is silence. I opened the door again and tried to hear what Steve was talking about.
But this time, not me to close the door, is he. Who is he talking about? It seemed serious.
After he hung up, I walked to his room quietly. I was so curious about this.
“Who’s calling Dad? What happened?” I saw his eyes are full of…complications.
“Kris, just go back to your room now. Nothing happened. I am now going out. Cook by yourself.” He walked downstairs and went out. This time, I noticed this is a serious stuff. I went back to my room. It was already the last day of the break. I have to go to school tomorrow. Homework done, backpack packed. What else can I do now?
I turned on the CD player that Mom bought me for my 16th Birthday last year. The first song was Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne. I listened to the player and fell asleep eventually.
When I woke up it was 4 am already. I realized I did not take a bath. I rushed to the bathroom and take a shower. I went to Steve’s room to check on him. He is back. I threw myself to the bed and slept again. The alarm woke me up at 7am. I wore a plaid coat plus skinny jeans and rushed downstairs. I saw Steve was already having breakfast.
“Good morning Dad.” I greeted him happily, pretended nothing happened yesterday.
“Morning, Kris.” He greeted me back luckily. I smiled back and had my breakfast.
After breakfast, I went outside to start my car and went to school. This will be a nice day, I hope.
