The Ford Focus is a vehicle that meets the needs of a wide variety of car owners. It comes in sporty trims and has good fuel efficiency. When Focus owners choose to upgrade their stock audio systems with a Car CD player, they'll find that Ford has made that easy as well.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable (or grounding cable) from the Focus' battery. Using a 10 mm socket and ratchet or 10 mm wrench, loosen the bolt holding the battery cable clamp around the negative lead. The grounding cable is the black cable connecting the negative battery lead to the frame or chassis of the Focus.

2. Remove the stereo deck from the dashboard of the Focus. Using the DIN removal tools, insert the two prongs of each tool into the two holes aligned vertically on either side of the stereo. Pull each tool toward you and away from the dash.

3. Disconnect the wiring connected at the rear of the factory stereo deck. The four groups of wires connect the stereo to the battery, the amplifier, the speakers and the antenna.

4. Insert the faceplate installation kit into the opening left by the removed stereo. Since the CD player will not have openings for the DIN removal tools or the Ford factory mounting brackets, you will have to install it using a faceplate kit. The faceplate kit slides into the opening and is seated when it clicks on both sides.

5. Connect the wiring harnesses for the four wire groups into the CD player. (In any order).

6. Slide the CD player into the faceplate installation kit opening until flush with the face of the kit.

7. Reconnect the grounding cable to the Focus' battery. Replace the cable clamp around the negative battery lead. Tighten the bolt with a 10 mm tool until the clamp cannot be moved by hand.
