New Zealand shot put great Valerie Adams has continued her irresistible run of form heading into the athletics world championships with victory at a meet in Switzerland.
Two-time Olympic champion Adams hurled the shot 20.76m with her sixth and final throw at the Spitzen Leichtathletik meet in Lucerne to notch her 37th consecutive win in all competitions.
The 28-year-old from Auckland was typically untroubled in seeing off her nearest opponents.
Germans filled the next three places. Christina Schwanitz was second with a best of 19.65m and Nadine Kleinert third with 18.32m.
The winning throw was an improvement on Adams' 20.62m to win a Diamond League event in Paris 11 days ago but was short her season best of 20.88m achieved in the Czech Republic on June 27.
She improved throughout her throws on Wednesday, which featured one foul. She opened with two throws under 20m before reaching 20.64m, 20.36m and 20.76m.
Adams later expressed delight at her form in a twitter posting which included a photo posing with her Swiss-based coach Jean-Pierre Egger, whom she credits for much of her success.
Three-time world champion Adams will seek to defend her title in Moscow, where the women's shot put is scheduled for August 11-12.
