How did we miss this!?
Thanks to Siham Yassine's comment on our Facebook wall,
we were reminded we haven't yet told you
of a huge event in the history of J-Pop…
Akanishi Jin is debuting in the US while the hottie boy band
he is a part of, KAT-TUN, tours Asia. Huge!
For those of you who don't know,
Akanishi Jin is basically one of the hottest men on Earth,
with a smooth voice and guitar-picking skills to match.
A member of the J-Pop boy group KAT-TUN,
he's set to have a three-show tour in the Los Angeles area this June
while the rest of the group tours Asia.
Why is this sooooo significant?
This is the very first solo performance in the U.S. by a Johnny's artist —
a Japanese artist repped by the talent agency Johnny's Jimusho.
Jin is performing in three concerts around L.A. — from June 19th – 20th —
and will be in the States from May through October,
doing various promotional activities. (And hopefully more shows!)
Meanwhile, KAT-TUN is touring from May through August
as a 5-member group, mostly in Japan, with a few dates overseas.
They'll be in Bangkok on July 31, in Seoul on August 6-7,
and in Taipei on August 27-28.
Do not miss them!
TokyoGraph reported how this all came together:
After a solo performance in February,
Akanishi received an offer from American cable channel UTB,
which focuses on Japanese programs.
At the time, KAT-TUN's Asia tour had already been finalized,
but after discussions with the other members
and agency president Johnny Kitagawa,
it was decided that the tour would go on without Akanishi.
He agreed to three concerts on June 19-20
at the Club Nokia venue at the L.A. Live complex.
Also, it's interesting to note that actually,
this isn't the first time Jin has been to LA.
Remember, in 2006 – 07, he took a break
and spent six months there learning English.
We're glad he did it! His performances in June
are set to be entirely in English… no small feat!
