The retro version of the New Jordans 2012 was a coveted shoe. The original was published in 1996, when Jordan and the Bulls were at the height of their domination. A new edition was launched each year, and release dates had to be moved to the weekends to keep kids from skipping school to get a pair.
Mr. Gavrity went to jail that night, losing his chance to buy the coveted Jordan 4 Cement. So did some other buyers brawl in Atlanta, and a Georgian woman who was taken into custody for leaving his two young children in a car by going after the shoes. A California man was arrested after a gun he took from the sale went off inadvertently causing a crowd to disperse.
Fortunately nobody was killed Friday in New Jordan Shoes frenzy. In the past, people were assaulted and even killed for the first versions of these shoes, which first came on the market in 1984, CBS recalls. The Air Jordan has since been successful according to sneaker fans, spawning a subculture of collectors. Some owners save them for special occasions while others do not get them out of the box.
