 Ingellen, a leading optical communication components innovator, had announced the availability of industrial-temperature reconfigurable Fast Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet SFP, transceivers with Serial Gigabit Media Independent Interface(SGMII).

The SGMII SFP transceiver can be described as Comparable prefer Multimedia Self-governing User Interface (MII). It is a 100BASE-FX Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) Fast Ethernet Interface Converter on Gigabit SFP Ports, happens to be raised for Gigabit Ethernet. The SGMII SFP includes two sections: The standard SFP part and the PHY part built with SGMII interface. The SGMII SFP transceiver meets SFP MSA and SFF-8472 with duplex LC receptacle, and it applied metal enclosure for lower EMI to improve the performance.

The function of SGMII SFP:
SGMII SFP is used to connect Gigabit Ethernet to Fast Ethernet, such as between switch and switch interface, switched backplane applications and router/service interface. The system can get the LOS(or Link)/Disable/Fault information via I2C register access. The optical output can be disabled by a TTL logic high-level input of Tx Disable, and the system also can disable the module via I2C. Tx Fault is provided to indicate that degradation of the laser. Loss of signal (LOS) output is provided to indicate the loss of an input optical signal of receiver or the link status with partner.

The system can get the LOS(or Link)/Disable/Fault information via I2C register access. The host equipment can also access this information via the 2-wire serial CMOS EEPROM protocol. To carry frame data and link rate information between a 10/100/1000 PHY and an Ethernet MAC, SGMII uses a different pair for data signals and for clocking signals, with both being present in each direction, also takes a different approach because of GMII from her low-power not to mention affordable green count up serial interface. With these help it at the same time increasingly being evident in every different place, rendering 8 alert facial lines in whole.
