As the improvement of fiber optic technologies, 10G Ethernet products are coming to fit the increasing demand for bandwidth. SFP plus is the 10G fiber optic transceiver which used for 10G Ethernet and other high speed transmissions. SFP+ is with much higher data rate and latest industrial standards. SFP+ is more compact size compared with the former 10G transceivers X2 and Xenpak, it has greater ability for density installations.

The small form-factor pluggable (SFP) is a compact, hot-pluggable transceiver used for both telecommunication and data communication applications. These modules are designed to support SONET, Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and other communications standards. SFP module makes the fiber optic network or fiber-Ethernet network easier to upgrade or maintain. Because SFP modules can be easily interchanged, electro-optical or fiber optic networks can be upgraded and maintained more conveniently than has been the case with traditional soldered-in modules. Rather than replacing an entire circuit board containing several soldered-in modules, a single module can be removed and replaced for repair or upgrading.
