While, Whereas

(用法1) While 用於在一個較長動作中描述這動作發生時, 另一動作的發生. 與as, when 相似.
e.g. I finished my homework while you was taking a shower. (在你洗澡時, 我做完了我功課)
e.g. I won my first medal of writing contest while I was studying in the primary school.

(用法2) 另一用法是, 描述兩個有對比的想法. 如要跨句(用句號分隔兩句子, 則用however, 或on the other hand)
e.g. I would like to have a cup cake, while she would like to have a cheese cake.

Whereas 常用來描述兩個有對比的想法(用法2),  
而While 可用來描述對比, 也可用於描述同一時間. (用法1/2) 

nevertheless 仍然, 不過, 然而 (跟however 差不多)

track record 過去的業績

e.g. Ms Chan was the one who really stood out (引人注目, 突出) on account of (因為) her excellent track record.
