A Look At The New IWC Ingenieur Automatic 分類: 未分類

IWC's new Ingenieur line received a major refresh last week, and while there are countless complications - think rattrapante, digital perpetual calendar, and tourbillon - it is the Ingenieur in its simplest form that is most appealing to us. Here's why: First. It's small. But not too small. It's 40mm, which is a great size, and perfectly placed between the classic AP Jumbo at 39mm and the new 41mm Royal Oak. We mention those two watches because the Royal Oak was, of course, designed by Gerald Genta. And so was the Ingenieur SL back in the mid 1970s - the first Ingy to take on this particular shape. This design just seems to work best around 40mm. Second, it's the only model in the current Ingenieur line-up that is anti-magnetic. It's good to 40,000 amperes per meter and to us, this is a must for this particular watch. It is the opinion of this publication that IWC replica uk really, really missed the boat by not making the entire line at least a little anti-magnetic. This was, after all, the crux of the entire watch when it was introduced in the 1950s as the engineer's watch. Imagine if only one model of IWC's Aquatimer collection was waterproof? Imagine if Rolex made a Milgaus that wasn't anti-magnetic? See what we're getting at? Strange. But, the Ingenieur Automatic is indeed anti-magnetic, and that's a great thing. The watch wears very, very well, on the integrated IWC bracelet. Inside this Longines replica uk is an ETA 2892, which we're sure will turn off a few people, but it's really not a big deal. The reason we say that is this: IWC doesn't make an in-house movement that can fit into a 40mm case. Think about it. The smallest watch IWC makes with an in-house movement is the 42.3mm Portuguese Automatic and that retails for over $12,000. Also, some of the very best IWC watches ever made housed ETA and Valjoux movements (think the Pilot's chronograph 3705). Because IWC chose to use an ETA movement here, the price is about half of what it would be if they had used one of their own calibers - $6600. Would you rather have the purist's Ingenieur be larger, less wearable, and more expensive (but in-house) or the right size and at a price point that is approachable? Also, the anti-magnetic cage, case and bracelet work on this Jacob Co replica uk do the price justice. So, the IWC Ingenieur Automatic 40mm makes a pretty compelling argument to those looking for a nice tool watch with true scientific and horological roots. It's the right size, resembles the original Genta design closely, holds true to the anti-magnetic roots of the Ingenieur line, and its relatively affordable. More details here.
