Perhaps Love is yhe new film from Hong Kong's king of romantic drama Prtrt Chan Ho-san.The all-singing.all-dancing musical stars Takeshi Kaneshiro.Zhou Xun and Jacky Cheung Hok-yau,and looks set to be another huge hit.
Zhou plays Sun Na.an actress who become a star with the help of boyfriend director Nie Wen(cheung).During the Duringthe filming of a musical,she begins a romance with her co-stsr Lin Jian Dong,who she used to date when she was a teenager.Nie plays her jealous boyfriend in the same musical.The bizarre love trangle makes it hard to work out where the acting stops andreal emotoins atart.
One of the hardest parts pf making a modern musical is to inclunde intereating and enteraining song and dance breaks that fit in with the stor.Perhaps Love solves the problem by being a film-within-a-film.
The sings are catchy breaks from the events of the film.They are also a vital part of the story,as they show how the characters are feeling.
Zhou gives a stunning performance in the role os Sun.It is a pleasure to watch this wonderful actree.It is rare to over the top,but his vocals sill show young Hong Kong singers how it's done.
