| NikeLab got its hands on the Nike Air Flight 89, ever a bastion of vintage basketball-inspired good looks, and the sporty silhouette will never be the same. Well, it probably will be the same at some point. Not now though, as NikeLab truly reinvents the classic. There are five colorways in total, each sporting a premium tumbled leather upper executed in solid coloring and tonal detailing. Luxe leather sockliners deliver designer style and unrivaled feel, and the classic hoops sole unit contrasts in solid-white on all five. After recently getting a look at the new black, white, tan and red colorways of the Air Flight ’89, NikeLab is back with yet another variation of the retooled sneaker. Here we see the mid-tops in an Obsidian and white look, also featuring tonal branding and matching laces. As with the remainder of the lineup, a white midsole provides contrast underneath. Leather has been utilized on the upper, while a padded collar accounts for premium cushioning and comfort during movement. People were gassed when photos of the NikeLab Air Flight 89 collection hit the web a few weeks ago. Were you one of them excited people? The latest collection to join the fray is a group of NikeLab Air Flight 89 colorways. Composed of five styles in all, these are likely some of the most premium versions of the underrated retro hoops sneaker ever released. For starters, the uppers are built with a combination of smooth and tumbled leathers, with leather also filling in the inner lining. Meanwhile, the colorways are kept classy and understated, with "Vachetta Tan," "Obsidian," "Gym Red," "Black," and "White" makeups. Each opts for completely monochrome uppers — save for the black stitching on the tongue of the white pair — and a white-on-white midsole and outsole combination that is reminiscent of the "Cyber Monday" Jordan 1s.
NikeLab is taking the NikeLab Air Flight 89 SP into the luxury realm thanks to a black tumbled leather, 3M reflective heel, and a pristine white midsole/outsole combination. The colour blocking is a standard NikeLab selection – a monochromatic upper keeps things simple and timeless for a model you wouldn’t necessarily expect to warrant a lifestyle overhaul.
