| The Air Jordan Flight 97 introduces new and old simultaneously. Out of the previous colorways, this has been one of the more attractive versions of the Jordan Flight 97, as the design seems to be very decisive about which elements to take and implement. The outsole/midsole should be the one part that is instantly recognized, as it takes from the Air Jordan III. The sneaker comes off as a pseudo-trainer, with the midfoot strap being implemented. Perforated holes are strewn across the upper, following along the lines of polygonal overlays. The toe overlay features a very subtle crackle-foil print, matching the grey outsole and plastic trim. While Jordan Brand seems to have cut down on the chaff as far as new models that fill up their catalog every season, they haven’t entirely phased them out. All you have to do is look to pairs like the Jordan Future Flight Remix and this new Jordan Flight ’97 to see that their efforts in that realm are still ongoing. The pair in question isn’t too blatant about the sneakers that served as inspiration, although you definitely will recognize the tooling on bottom here. Designed with the versatility to perform on the court and look good on the street, the Jordan Flight 97 Shoes fuse innovative performance and Jordan good looks. Boasting a mixed medium upper with leather for comfort and durability, mesh for ventilation and textile for style, these hoops kicks feature the best of all worlds. The removable midfoot strap offers locked down support, while the heel pull tab makes pulling these on a breeze. A Phylon midsole works with an Air-Sole unit in the heel to offer plush cushioning and shock absorption, while the rubber sole with agressive traction pattern keeps you grounded. The focal point, however, is the rising ankle support on the Jordan Flight 97. A deep gradient, beginning with black and ending with a deep red. The embroidered lines along the collar are countered with the lines of the grey overlays on the upper; the visual “cinching” comes off nicely, as it sets up the shoe’s design to open up at the heel.
Newest Jordans 2016 tend to have an orthodox mentality with their shoes, refusing any alteration or modification of a classic release. It’s very understandable, for these shoes were innovative at their time of arrival.
