| The sixth signature shoe of Michael Jordan, we're taking a look at the lineage of the New Jordans 2016. Originally released in 1991, Michael Jordan wore the 6 en route to his first NBA championship. The year 2000 saw the shoe retroed for the first time, with the introduction of new colorways and Jumpman logos replacing the original "Nike Air" branding. The model was then scaled down in 2002, releasing in low-top form for the first time, along with women’s colorways and sizing.
In order to appreciate the Cheap Air Jordan 6, you have to start at the beginning. It all started in 1991, when the original Air Jordan VI was released – it was the first Jordan with an internal bootie and it boasted a striking design, Porsche-inspired pull tab and Vis-Air® unit. It was also the shoe MJ wore as he captured both the league and Finals MVP. The Jordan Retro 6 is a retroed version of that classic shoe, offering a fresh look with the same iconic details. The upper is a combination of leather and synthetics with perforated details and sleek designs throughout. The Air Jordan 6 is still on a sabbatical from the men’s release calendar, but the small-foot releases seem to be flowing out faster than ever. Following April’s ‘Green Glow‘ colourway, this ‘Black/Cool Grey’ AJ6 delivers a darker interpretation of the Tinker-Hatfield-designed silhouette to what we typically come to expect from smaller-sized Jordan Brand releases. Gone are the usual bright pops, replaced by an upper depleted entirely of bold colouration. What remains is a sophisticated take on the AJ6, pairing jet-black tumbled leather with ‘Cool Grey’ nubuck.
New Air Jordan Shoes, After a couple one-off releases, the Air Jordan 6 Retro got its first full retro run in 2010. For the shoe's 23rd Anniversary in 2014, numerous styles, both old and new, released throughout the year. This year, the low-top is back for the first time since it originally debuted and "Nike Air" will be returning on an original colorway that has yet to be retroed. The Air Jordan Sport Blue 6 returns in its original colorway for the first time. The shoe displays an all white leather upper and visible sport blue accents on the midsole as well as the jumpman on the front. This Sport Blue retro was released with a few more Sport Blue models for the Jordan line as well, but this being the first re-release of the Sport Blue 6 after 23 years, it surely grabs attention.
