| The New Jordans 2017 was the eleventh shoe in the historic line of Jordans. The Jordan 11 was designed by legendary footwear designer Tinker Hatfield and was on the feet of Michael Jordan during the historic 72-10 season in 1995-96. The Jordan 11 was also on the feet of MJ when he took home his fourth NBA Championship in the 1996 Finals.This Holiday 2016 season, Jordan Brand is bringing back two iconic releases with the Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” and the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam”. Each pair utilizes retro Nike branding, a remastered form that pays closer attention to the original molds and construction throughout for a premium finish, but each comes at a premium price point of $220 USD. Even with the added Swoosh branding and legendary status of these two colorways, are they enough to solidify Jordan Brand’s usual dominance of the upcoming holiday season?The Air Jordan 11 has come in dozens of colorways and iterations of high, low, and low IE versions over the years, but initially the shoe only came in three high top colorways and two low IEs.
While the 2017 Air Jordan Shoes was well received in its OG form, the shoe has seen tremendous success as the retro Air Jordan 11. Since 2008, every December brings a new Air Jordan 11 retro from Jordan Brand with several other releases sprinkled in throughout the release.Added competition is always a good thing for consumers, and adidas Originals has given Nike and Jordan Brand a run for their money in the lifestyle department thanks to smart Primeknit and Boost offerings with the continued success of the adidas NMD and adidas Ultra Boost. The gotta-have-it attitude still lives on with Jordan retro releases, but that once untouchable mystique and nostalgia diminished when most of their retro product sits readily available on shelves weeks after initially releasing, and sometimes at a discount. While this is undoubtedly due to ramped up production and an effort to kill the secondary resale market, how much of this trend could also be due to changing interests in the sneaker world?

This weekend will also see the simultaneous launch of a retro model Air Jordan 11 Low, this time in “Varsity Red.”In honor of the 20th anniversary of the film "Space Jam," the iconic black and blue Air Jordan 11s will be making a return to retailers for the first time since 2009.However, unlike the previous 11s before it, the 2016 "Space Jam" colorway will feature the rare #45 on the heel in place of the familiar #23. What's more, the 2016 edition feature a higher, OG cut on the patent leather and "Nike Air" branding on the insole.You might as well get in line now, because when the Air Jordan 11 ($180) hits the streets in two days, it'll sell out instantaneously. Arriving in the iconic black/white/concord colorway, it offers the white nylon upper, black patent leather mid and toebox, carbon fiber plate, and concord purple bottom of the original, only 16 years after its release. Like we said, line up early.
