| Jordans 2017 actually not milked the Charlotte connection nearly as much as it could, making many of the Hornets-colored shoes it's produced in very limited numbers as player exclusives. What's more, the brand looks to be missing a big opportunity to play up that angle now that 2017's NBA All-Star has been moved from Charlotte. The sneaker is the latest piece of evidence to suggest that Jordan Brand will be aiming towards the Charlotte Hornets color scheme going forward, which isn't exactly surprising given Michael Jordan's part ownership of the team. Then again, the AIr Jordan 5 had some of that flavor from the beginning–the "Grape" Jordan 5 has an obvious connection to that palette that was so treasured in the 1990s.
New Air Jordan Shoes, We are up to see a plethora of Charlotte Hornets inspired Jordan Brand's releases. After a AJ13 low, it is the turn of the classic Air Jordan 5 to celebrate the North Carolina team. The pair boast a navy premium leather base contrasted by a 3M reflective tongue sitted atop an Icey bottom while white and teal accents are seen on the brandings, logo and back-tongue. Here we preview the tidy "Midnight Navy" colourway, with a dark blue-drenched upper, with turquoise accents on the tongue and midsole teeth, while the 3M tongue provides a bright flash of reflection and the translucent outsole supplies the bed of ice.
New Jordans 2016 didn't see fit to release the Air Jordan 12 "Hornets" in a full size run this fall. And while this is unfortunate, that doesn't take away from another great Air Jordan 12 dropping before the close of the year. It's never a surprise when Air Jordans wear Charlotte Hornets colors these days given Michael Jordan's ownership of the team. This time around, his Air Jordan 12 has a colorway that matches just fine with the palette of the squad. Launching a week following the "Wool" 12's, this light blue and purple style of course ties back to the team that Jordan holds a majority stake. Hopefully this is just the beginning of an experimental period that test such releases to validate their mass appeal.
