Year 7 Football Excursion
On the 10th of August, 2007, year 7 ESL class, Mr. Butler, Mrs. Palamaras, Mrs. Bernecich and three year nine students from ESL class went to a football excursion to Melbourne Cricket Ground. I was very excited because I was going to watch my favorite AFL team – Collingwood (Collingwood vs. Richmond).
The time was approximately six o’ clock and we were outside the entry (gate 5 ), waiting for Nick who is the multicultural program co- ordinators to give us tickets., while we were waiting for him to arrive, Mr. Butler took some photos of us and put them in the college magazine and newsletter.
After a while, he finally arrived, and we enter the ground floor of MCG. It was huge and many people were walking around, holding some delicious food from the canteen. Then Nick took us to the third floor where the AFL office is. We could go in because we were the special guest of the day!! He explained to us about the MCG and then he gave us a AFL multicultural scrapbook, a AFL magazine and a football. I was surprised that we all got a special present- the football.
And here we go to the seating area, and I was very excited and being at the MCG is also one of my dream because my parents never going to take me here for no reason because they don’t like footy just like Specky’s parents.
I was very excited as I walked up the stairs and when I reach the top and saw this enormous and grand field and the number of people sitting and watching the game, the cheers from all the die- hard supporters. The game had started and I watched the whole game and everytime Collingwood or Richmond tigers kicked a goal, a very big cheer from all the team supporters.
Richmond finally won and I wasn’t upset about it only because I don’t go for Richmond, but the most important thing was that I had a wonderful and unforgettable experience in Australia.
