Leopard是一款真正的64位作業系統，並向下相容32位。蘋果稱，32位應用程式可以和
64位一同實時運行，而且無需轉換、模擬或虛擬，用戶也不會感覺到任何差異。
談論較多的另一項重要功能是「Time Machine」，即Leopard的備份和還原機制。就像
Windows裡的系統還原，「Time Machine」的目的同樣是確保數據的安全和便利。用戶
可以按照需要的時間恢復備份在本地磁碟或網路磁碟上的整個作業系統或單個文件，
同時可以查看文檔的舊版本，並在恢復前進行預覽。
「Time Machine」同時與文件搜索管理系統Finder嚴密整合，用戶可以根據時間和日
期查找數據，Finder就會顯示所需要的文件版本。此外，二者還可以合作在舊版文檔
中進行搜索。
「Time Machine」的API將向開發人員開放.
最終完整版的「Boot Camp」也將在Leopard中出現,用戶可以更方便地實現Mac OS X和
Windows的雙啟動.
Leopard 還將引入虛擬桌面「Spaces」,但不僅僅是一個整合了Expose功能的傳統虛擬
桌面工具,用戶隻需按一下按鈕,Spaces就會全盤出現在螢幕上,讓用戶瞭解所有的桌面
上都在運行著什麼,以便根據自己的喜好進行安排組織,甚至可以在預覽中從一個桌面
