Take all Alaskan Natives to the lobbies of the Alaskan Native Corporate buildings in Anchorage and deposit them in thier lobbies. All others goes to jail and does community service work. Have the billion dollar corporations take care of thier "own". All others abide by Societies rules. Sorry, I think that the native corporations should "take care of thier own", just as they do in the villages. AND, "they" have the money to do it.

I used to work for CSP and they have been trying to find a solution to this problem for years. It is sad that the city pays more attention to dog poop than this issue. The city and state are just trying to find the cheapest way possible to manage this problem, a " cheap quick fix" I would say. The majority of the people that they work with are severely mentally ill and they don't need to be on the streets anyways. They try to get them help or have them charged with a crime and thrown in jail, but since they are "harmless drunks" in the eyes of some law enforcement officials, they are taken to 12 hour hold " non crim" as it is called and let out after they are completely sober or the 12 hours have passed. Along with the mile long criminal records many (not all ) of these people posess, you would think they would be locked up and the key thrown away. I have children, and I see these public inebriates everywhere, even in my own neighborhood. Many of them are also convicted sex offenders, and I definitely don't want them roaming the streets so they can target our women and children. As far as I am concerned, especially since I know the depth of this problem and what the homeless inebriates are capable of, they can take as much taxes as they need out of my check to take care of this problem, just to ensure the safety of the rest of us "law abiding citizens" and our children from this never ending problem.

I live and work downtown. And I can tell you that it's not just about a small group of inebriates. It's about their violence, attraction of more drunks, and lack of the city looking at the problem as it really is. This town is too easy to be 'drunk' in. It's like letting the hookers have their run of Spenard. Once the police got tough on enforcing the law, you see Spenard change and brothels close.

If there is no law to enforce, then what do you think will happen?
