My first time went outdoors for visiting the escalator at Kowloon Tong. I found that they need to check the inside of the escalators every day. They brought all the equipment using for maintenance, such as, toolbox, fence, etc. The first step, wear the safety feature, safety helmet and safety shoes. After visiting, I learnt the escalator is set as follows for the safety device. These facilities in order to prevent dangerous accidents will stop the operation of the escalator.

Drive chain safety device
If the drive chain is too long, the safety device will automatically stop the escalator.
Pedal chain safety device
When the chain of the rungs, pedals or conveyor belts is detected to be broken or overstretched, the device will stop the escalator.
SKIRT GUARD safety device
The safety device will automatically stop the escalator when there is a foreign matter between the skirt and the pedal.
The inlet guard of handrail safety device
At the entrance of the mobile armrest, there is a safety device for the protection of the handrail entrance. In case of hand and foreign body is caught, the safety device will automatically stop the escalator operation.
Emergency stop button
Use this button in an emergency situation to stop the escalator.

Accident of lifts in Hong Kong
1993
Reason of accident:
1.) Overloading
2.) The site officer-in-charge did not make a periodic inspection for lift
Part: Temporary lift

2002:
Reason of accident:
As a result of a screw loose making the elevator keep climbing when the lift door is opened

2008:
Reason of accident:
The counterweight pulley bearing of lifts is damaged, it makes eight of ropes to break away from the counter weight pulley under an unbalanced way, and lift becomes drop very quickly. The safety gear reduces the velocity but not allow stopping it. Seven of eight ropes breed happened. When the tension >66N, the seven ropes is snapped.

I finished a report about testing is the lifts achieve a standard for energy efficiency installations. The report needs point out all the details of lifts, such as, building name, load and speed, car internal size, also the door operation. I found that almost all types of door operation are ACVVVF and the landing doors used Center operation nowadays. Then, the report required the map picture aimed at knowing the nearby building and facilities of the situation. It also required AutoCAD drawing layout of Machine room, the side of it is neglected. I understand a government report had lots of step to prove its achievement. When elevator is built and your companies are joining the proposal of energy saving, they will text and make down the readings of all kinds of voltage and circuit. And check is it suitable for doing this kind of program. Then the companies should hand out this report on time. After finishing this report, I found that I can draw some easy AutoCAD drawing but use a long time.
