Title: Rose tree

Description:

After I have received the topic of the ISP-Analogue, I feel a little bit of nervous about it. Since analogue this word is somehow broad in meaning, I feel difficult in thinking ideas of my artwork. Analogue usually descibed in photography. That is the “old school” style of photographs. Nowadays in 21^st century, as the advanced technology is populas in the worldwide, nearly all the electronic devices that we are using are digital. The main reason that we changed from analogue to digital is because the digital signals are way more reliable and are easier in transmission.

I have made a rose tree to present the topic. I have used newspaper to fold 127 roses to form a tree shape. I have used wires to build the structure of the tree, then stick those roses on the wires. After all, I used acyclic colours to paint them in rainbow colour with graduation. You may ask why do I use newspaper to fold them rather than other materials. It is because newspaper has long history that represent the events of worldwide everyday. It has recorded those crucial things among the world. Just like analogue, its pulicity, periodicity, currency and universality are worldwide and common in daily lives. I have used graduation colours to represent the change of analogue to digital era. A tree means growth which all the things will grow and change when the time passed by. Roses usually give people an impression of the positive side and I think analogue gives humans the positive affection in lives.

Description:

I have created an artwork that is an installation in which it is supposed to be presented it out on a large wall in the town. As nowadays, people around are always do harm to the environment and mar the beauty of our harbor. It is indisputably that the responsibility has to be bear by the humans. Is it worth it to enjoy temporary artificial chilling winds at present at the expense of bereaving our future generations of the rights to enjoy natural cool freeze? The answer should be definitely no. Therefore, we have to do our part in order to combat this environmental problem and to let citizens to raise their awareness of it.

Artist Statement:

This artwork should be presented in an eye-catching area in the town. It can be on a large wall of a building to show it. It just likes a 3D screen, which can show this artwork to most of the people when they are passing by it. The screen will show different weathers or some actions that are done by the people. For example, if people have wasted lots of papers, the natural environment will be damaged. Thus, the screen will show that the number of trees will then be decreased and cut down. It will be shown in visual effect rather then words. Beside the screen, there will have some natural elements for the decoration, e.g. flowers, grass, etc. Some recycled materials, e.g. cans, can make it. These can be evoke the eco-friendly message to the public and let them know the importance of the lives of the nature that around us. Since it will be shown in visual way rather than words, all the people can easily get the meaning or messages of this artwork successfully.

This is an artwork made by Mareike who is a berlin artist made this artwork in 1982. I was inspired by her artwork which she has only used many clocks to create a constant rhythm of this analogue installation. Although it seems that is's an easy task in creating this but it can let us think a lot about its background and meaning. For example, time is a thing that we have to treasure it and use it wisely. 
 

I am decided to use newspaper to make lots of roses in creating a rose tree. The tree trunk will use steel to make the tree shape inresponse to stick the roses on it more easily.  It will just like the above artwork which intensively put the subjects all together but there have a deeply meaning behind it.

2. 50 words description

This artwork will be a rose tree in which those roses are made of newspaper. I will use all the recycling materials to make this artwork. For me, a rose can give people a 2-side meaning-negative and positive. The rose maybe can be the positive side but the throns are negative side because it will harm people.
