It was a whirlwind day for Nike Air Max UK National Training Camp participants, as they were also treated to visits from Portland Thorns FC players, including fan favorite Alex Morgan. Thorns players spent several hours with the campers, offering encouraging words, giving advice, and yes, even taking selfies.

Aug. 2 included more training sessions and team-bonding experiences, including an innovative way to play ping pong. Preparations were made for Sunday’s game against an older Washington Select team, which featured a roster of top Puget Sound Premier League players.

The Washington game proved to be id² National Selection’s best, as the team rallied from a late 2-1 deficit to score twice in four minutes and clinch a 3-2 win. Kelsey Turnbow (Crossfire Premier SC) provided both the equalizing and winning goals in the 73rd and 77th minutes off assists from Emma Thomson (Sockers FC) and Emily Knous (Legends FC), respectively.

Locksley (Maryland United FC), who two days prior recorded an assist against Oregon Select, scored in the 41st minute. Turnbow provided the assist.

Before the Nike Air Max Sale National Training Camp officially ended, the id² National Selection enjoyed field access to the Portland Thorns FC game against Houston Dash, which featured the largest crowd in NWSL history. The Thorns defeated the Dash, 1-0.

This was the second year of the National Selection programming element for the girls id² Program with both events at the prestigious Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.
