Nike has a $4.2 million licensing and apparel contract with Florida State University. So when nike air max 1 officials spotted the son of Florida State football coachJimbo Fisher wearing an Under Armour sweatshirt on the field following the team's Nov. 2 win over Miami, they immediately contacted Florida State, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
Fisher's son, Ethan, came onto the field and hugged his father after the win, a moment that appeared on television. Mark Dupes, Nike's assistant director for football sports marketing, jumped into action when he saw Baltimore-based sportswear maker Under Armour appear on Nike's turf via Ethan's shirt.
The Wall Street Journal has obtained an email in which Dupes requested that Florida State administrators "please ask Jimbo to eliminate that from the son's wardrobe in the future!"
Florida State is downplaying the request, but the message apparently was received. Ethan has since been seen wearing Nike Air Max gear, according to the Wall Street Journal.
