4 weeks pregnant and dealing with panic
I've been getting panic attacks much more often recently (every night and they keep me from going to be at a decent time)! Usually i just have to ride through it (nothing else works for me), I know they can be scary. but eventually they do disapate. Mine have recently been triggered by worrisome dreams! but once i got that figured out i've been able to control them a little better! Figuring out what your trigger is and writing about it or talking it through with someone could help you decrease their frequency, =)yes. this is my second pregnancy and with BOTH, late second/third trimester is a time of really high anxiety for me! doublechecking the locks on the doors, afraid to ride in a car or drive. panicked! obsessive images of something terrible happening to my loved ones, it is frustrating because i am generally pretty laid back, but something about pregnancy brings out my panicky side,
There are some excellent strategies to manage panic attacks that have been shown in research to be as effective as medication! You can learn these strategies in psychotherapy. or on your own through reading if you want something less structured and more convenient/cost effective! It helps with overall relaxation, breathing. and strengthening the muscles you will need for delivering your child. I also made some of my closest friends during prenatal yoga and we have watched our children grow together. you're feeling better,
I am a therapist and have experienced panic attacks in the past! The most important thing for you to remember is that they ray bans solbriller are all in your head, Your mind is controlling you and you need to take charge of it, Sometimes it happens when you feel like you can't breathe and then it gets harder to breathe; best advice for this is to tilt your head back (if you have taken CPR. you know that this is how you open the airway so it makes sense and helped me calm down), Deep breaths will help. try taking them as soon as you begin to feel or think about having trouble breathing or heartrate increases whatever your signs are that the panic is beginning, I know they are scary because they happen for no apparent reason at random times; explore and talk about what is going on so that you can relieve your anxiety. And remember! they do not last forever! only about 10 minutes or so which can be helpful to get through it if one begins. And they WILL disappear I haven't had one in years. Much of that is not allowing my mind to control me so tell yourself you WILL figure all of this out! it WILL be okay and think about what and who you have in your life to help relax you! read more Also, I don't know if you get nervous about your heartrate or if you feel weird things (I did) but the cardiologist told me to make sure I am hydrated because then I wouldn't feel the "skipped beats" that sometimes occur and are more prominent when dehydrated. Hope this helps,I'm sorry to here that, I've experienced them in the past but have not had any trouble while pregnant, I have been taking the time to be calm every day and practice relaxation and meditation exercises. I also try and turn the nerves I feel into excitement about what's happening. The most! useful thing I have done to get out of the grip of panic is to endulge in the belief that I can handle ANYTHING,Goodluck. although common. it's a really complicated one! I'm sure you'll find the right mix of things to get through it and be even stronger at the other end.
