A lecture given by a renowned professor 

The professor is a very kind and grandfatherly man 

I like him 

Because he always smiled during the lecture 

I took some notes 

And i want  to share them with you 

1. It is about listening 

Listen to broadcast everyday 

And gradually switch from news to special topic .

One way to improve listening is to enlarge 

your vocabulary and you scope of knowledge

2. It is about speaking 

You should pay attention to accuracy and fluency 

Learn to speak politely and patiently 

in the negotiations with foreigners .

And when i asked him how to deal with tense when we were speaking English

For i am always having some problems with my tense 

I use present tense when i try to say it in past tense 

He advised me to write English diaries ,and try to think as a foreigner .

When you have already done dozen of exercises 

then it will just come out without thinking 

After all ,translation is not a good way in speaking English 

 And he recommended 2 books 

Actually they are old books 

They were written by Stannard 

One is living English speech 

The other one is living English structure

I baidued them on the Internet

They were sold only on 孔子旧书网

And they are not cheap

One is 40 yuan 

And the other is 120 yuan 

But according to the professor they seems to be very useful

3. About reading 

He recommended us to read some simplified editions 

I really miss penguin series 

They are so useful 

But we can buy it nowhere 

I am thinking of calling back to xiamen foreign language school to 

Ask whether they can help me guy some 

4 write 

You have to write more if you want to be better in writing 

An writing is essential if you want to be a translator or interpreter

5 translate

You can start translating from news 

And the gradually move to short stories and then long essays ..and even to books 

 Speaking of translator 

There is a woman who is very popular recently 

She is 张璐 she is the translator of premier WEN

She graduated from foreign affair institute 

Known as 外交学院 in Chinese 

And the cradle of diplomats in china 

Her major is international law

And it is said that she went to britain for further education 

And she is said to be refined both in appearance and talent.

How i wish to become next张

And i memorized 3 poems today 

On is parting at morning

Round the cape of a sudden came the sea

I do not know what is he talking about 

It is difficult to understand

 The second poem is written by Petofi Sandor 

I like him 

He is so famous 

And his poems always appear in luxun's articles \

And he told the truths 

I want to be a tree 

I will be a tree if you are the flower

Or a flower ,if you are the dew 

I will be the dew if you are the sunbeam 

To be united with you 

My lovely girl 

If you are the heaven

 I shall be a star above on high 

My darling 

If you are the hell fire

Damned i should die .

I like the last line 

I like the word damned 

I showed his determination  to unite with girl

Oh ~ 

My dear petofi 

Though it is easy to memorize 

But it is really very beautiful 

As beautiful as a red red rose 

More beautiful than the song of the nightingale 

This is a sentence structure i learned from our text book 

We are studying rose and nightingale written by Oscar Wild 

An Irish writer 

In the article 

He wrote : 

White rose : as white as the foam of the sea and 
whiter than the snow upon the mountain 

Yellow rose: as yellow as the hair of the mermaiden 

 and yellower the daffodil that blooms in the meadow 

I think it is beautiful

The story is about a nightingale sacrificed her life for a red rose 

with which a young student can dance with this love . 

The climax happened when the nightingale sang to the red rose tree 

with her breast against the thorn in order to let the thorn pierce her heart 

so that she could stain the rose with her own heart's blood 

But there is an anti-climax at the end 

When the his love refused to dance with him on spite of 

the rose because she had promised to dance with a chamberlain's son 

who had sent her some costly jewels .

The student threw the red rose away nd it fell into the gutter 

He never knew that rose came at the expense of the nightingale's life .

The whole story is beautiful in its holiness 

But also sad in its holiness 

In western literature 

Nightingale represents love and death .

And it is the embodiment of deep sorrow .

It is used in many poems and stories .

Well

My third poem a very famous one 

Most of you have heard of its Chinese version 

It is written by 泰戈尔

The farthest distance in the world

Actually 

I like the Chinese version 

Because the rhythm is much better than the English version 

I am imposed to a lot of poems recently 

And i feel like writing poem myself 

But i do not know what to write 

I just have that kind of feeling 

It seems that their is a poem just about to jump out 

But it just still not the right time .

Maybe i can write a poem about the beautiful weather these days 

I read a novel a few days ago 

 And i remember there are some lines which goes like this 

Nice weather isn't it ---- asked a girl 

Feels like spring ------- answered the man .

I like the answer 

Feels like spring ~
