Love Never Leaves You

Love Never Leaves You

“The Great Sichuan Earthquake which measured at 8.0M and 8.3Maccording to the China Seismological Bureau, and 7.9 M according to USGS, occurred at 14:28:01:42 CST on May 2008 in Sichuan province of China. It was also known as the Wehnchuan earthquake, after the earthquake’s epicentre in Wenchuan Country in Sichuan province……”

“Official figures report to date, 27 May, 2008, 67,183 dead in Sichuan province, 361,822 injured, missed 20,790, emergency transfer of resettlement of more than 1438.2414 million people, the cumulative number of affected people amounting to more than 4550.9241 million…….”

As soon as news of the earthquake was known around the world, people became more and more concerned. Because this earthquake connects our hearts together, let’s combat the earthquakes together!

In every corner of the whole world, you can feel a piece of love burning; you can see a lot of people contributing with money to help with people in need. Some countries have sent over rescue teams, food, tent, medicine to help China. Some other people have made phone calls and said they want to adopt those children who have become orphans overnight. Everywhere, there are signs of personal contribution and loving care.

Every time I watch the news, I can see tears, hope, waiting, struggling, love and grief. I hear some teachers could save their students’ lives but not their own; Parents held those heavy stone blocks off to keep their children’s lives. Soldiers are still working nonstop 24 hours a day rescuing people. Doctors, nurses and volunteers are also still working around the clock helping out in the disaster.

“Dear son, if you are still there, remember mother will always love you!” This message was found on dead mother’s cell phone; she used her body to keep that heavy stone off to save her five-month-old son’s life.

I can see and feel how great a mother’s love can be! It embraces us, no matter what happens, it is always silently protecting us, smiling with sweet caring eyes. Mothers are like the bright sunshine which illuminates every corner of our lives.

The Primary school floor collapsed into a deadly cave after the quake. A soldier having to evacuate people is bitterly crying because he wants to reach out to help other kids who are still trapped down amongst the debris. He says: “Please! Let me go down for one more kid before it is too late!”

Soldiers! You are great! No matter how tired you are, no matter how injured, no matter how dangerous, you always think about us people first. You look like umbrellas, hiding us, and screening rain from us.

Yuan Wenting used her body to save the lives of 13 students as she was rushing the students out while the roof of the school was falling down. The soldiers later found her body in a bow-shaped posture, hands surrounding the students. Because the teacher was clutching the kids, the soldiers needed to cut her arms off to release the children. The soldiers cried in deep sorrow. The children survived the collapse, but the teacher is “in paradise now.”

Teacher! Your love is great! You give us a lot of knowledge and care, like parents’ love! You are like the river which flows from the unknown, watering us, nourishing us.

The State Council declared a three-day period of national mourning for the quake victims starting from May 19, 2008; the Chinese Flag and Regional Flags of Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR were raised at half mast. It is the first time that a national mourning period had been declared for something other than the death of a state leader, and many call it the biggest display of mourning since the death of Mao. At 14:28 CST on May 19, 2008, a week after the earthquake, the Chinese public held a moment of silence. People stood silent for three minutes while air defense, police and fire sirens, and the horns of vehicles, vessels and trains sounded. Cars on Beijing's roads came to a halt. The Ningbo Organizing Committee of Beijing Olympic torch relay announced that the relay would be suspended for the duration of the mourning period. After the moments of silence, in Tiananmen Square, crowds spontaneously burst out cheering various slogans, including "Long Live China".

We are always beside you. No matter what happened, no matter who you are, we are always beside you. We are your friends, we are you family. Our heart is always with you together. Love will never leave you alone. Don’t be sad let us stand side by side, hands in hands; let’s together create a bright tomorrow.

Our ordinary lives

Cannot avoid unbearable losses

The unpredictable sky is now covered by the rainbow

No more fragile tears

True feelings accumulate and turn into a power of love

And loving souls fill the heaven of lives

Do not feel desperate in the face of disaster

Trust us; we will always be with you

This is our distressed homeland

And my brothers and sisters

Let us stand side by side, hands in hands

Create and ocean of love

Bless China

Let our home keep away from disasters and misfortunes

Let our country flourish and our people live in peace and happiness
