“Mum! Wake up! Today is the first day of the Lunar New Year!” My youngest daughter Katie yelled.
Oh, yes. I know.
I wanted to answer my daughter but I couldn’t. I was too tired as I made five rice cakes, which I needed to give them to my relatives, yesterday night. More than that, I decorated the house into a holiday atmosphere. Red Banners were everywhere. I also needed to trim the flowers and put them into the vase, as well as filling the Chinese New Year’s candy tray. That was why I could only go to bed at four.
However you couldn’t expect a five-year-old kid to calm down in the first day of the Lunar New Year.
“Mum! Wake up, please!” Another daughter June yelled at me too, and jumped on my bed and shouted right beside my ear—
“Mum! Mum! Mum!” What a lovely daughter!
“Alright! Here I am. Please keep your voice down, June.” I said. I swore that I didn’t want to move at all, but I couldn’t stop my daughters form shouting at me. Sometimes I thought they were just like monsters.
I finally woke and wore the new dress, which I bought it three years ago. People like to use new thing in the New Year because it is a symbol of a start of something new. I wore my glasses and I could tell you that my daughters were starring at me just like cats starring at fish. June and Katie said at the same time, “Mum, happy new year-r-r-r-r!” They spoke the word “year” long.
Ummm?
“Where’s my pocket money?” Oh, yes. And the pocket money! It took me an hour to pack it up, how can I forget it?
“Thanks mum!”
