Youth Ministry of defense website hackers ¤ÀÃþ: ¥¼¤ÀÃþ

ANTI-ABORTION CAMPAIGN GROUP Youth Defence has said the hacking of its website this morning was “illegal and utterly pointless”.

In a statement, spokesperson Clare Molloy said the hacking, which briefly included a list of email addresses of subscribers to Youth Defence newsletters before it was removed, Asian college of knowledge management breached the privacy of people on both sides of the debate.

Molloy said the incident has been reported to the Gardaí and that it had been a breach of the Data Protection Act.

The group’s website YouthDefence.ie was replaced by a 2,456 word piece which say it was “blowing the lid” Set up Business in Hong Kong on the background of the group. “Youth Defence is not what you think it is,” the text read.

The page described the site as a “hate-filled truth-distorting website”.

The text raised questions about the funding of the organisation and the tactics used by the group. The hacked page briefly contained a link to more than 5,600 email addresses which it said were subscribers to Youth Defence’s newsletter. The link was deleted shortly after the hack went live.

It is not clear who carried out the hacking: no individual or group has claimed responsibility.

“No doubt a great deal of effort was expanded on something that is easily rectified and has zero impact on our campaign,” said Clare Molloy.

The hacked page has disappeared as of this afternoon but the full site has not yet gone back online. A message on the page says the website is “either experiencing problems, storage cabinet or [...] undergoing routine maintenance.”

Youth Defence describes itself as “Ireland’s most active pro-life organisation” and has been criticised for the graphic nature of its poster campaign in the run-up to the vote on the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill.

Michel Obama challenges the politicians ¤ÀÃþ: ¥¼¤ÀÃþ

MICHELLE OBAMA HAS weighed in on the contentious debate on guns in America in a hard-hitting speech in favour of reforming gun control laws.

In an at-times emotional speech in Chicago about tackling the high numbers of young people being killed on the city’s streets, Obama said her husband was “fighting as hard as he can… to pass common sense reforms to protect our children from gun violence dermes.”

Obama spoke at length about a 15-year-old girl who was shot dead in Chicago in January when she was mistaken for a gang member, one week after she had sang with classmates at Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration. Appearing to fight back tears, Michelle Obama said that teenager Hadiya Pendleton’s family had given her every opportunity to stop her from being affected by the violence that has blighted the city gift and premium fair.

She told the audience:

Hadiya’s mother did everything she could for her daughter. She enrolled her in every activity you could imagine… anything to keep her off the streets and keep her busy gift premium.
And as I visited with the Pendleton family at Hadiya’s funeral, I couldn’t get over how familiar they felt to me. Because what I realised was Hadiya’s family was just like my family. Hadiya Pendleton was me – and I was her.
But I got to grow up. And go to Princeton. And Harvard Law School. And have a career and a family and the most blessed life I could ever imagine. And Hadiya – we know that story.
The first lady spoke about her background in Chicago and said the only reason she had grown up to be a lawyer, mother and first lady rather than being shot dead at the age of 15 was because she had support and opportunities from her community Claire Hsu.

It is one of the few times that Michelle Obama has made a foray into domestic policy premium-gifts.

She spoke as two US senators – one Republican and one Democrat – presented a bipartisan proposal on toughening background checks for people looking to buy guns and said they had the support of a substantial number of elected politicians.
