Nike stuck with Tiger Woods. Looks like Tiger Woods will be sticking with Nike. The world's No.1 golfer is close to re-signing with the apparel and equipment giant, according to Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg.

"The relationship is very, very deep here -- years and years of nike air max 1working together and years and years going through some incredible times together," Steinberg told USA TODAY Sports. "There is a lot of emotion and a lot of friendship there, but when it comes down to renegotiating and extending a contract, you sit across the table from people you respect and try to get something done in a long-term fashion that will keep one of the greatest players of all time and one of the greatest sports marketing companies of all time together for as long as can be."

The pending deal first was reported by ESPN.

Steinberg would only say the extension would be a multiyear, multimillion-dollar deal but added, "It gives me some confidence that this will be the place that Tiger starts and ends his career from an equipment and sports marketing cheap nike air max standpoint.

"Sometimes extensions don't quite get the acknowledgment of a new deal," he said. "But this is one where Tiger and Nike will be very proud to make an announcement like this. It's an important deal and an important time in his career. Clearly his game is back at the same level of play that he proved throughout the first part of his career."

Woods originally signed with Nike in 1996, in what was reported to be a $100million deal.

His current contract, signed in 2006, is set to expire air max sale before the end of the year.

But Steinberg told ESPN.com, "We're down to the very, very short strokes right now. ... I would expect we would come out with some sort of joint announcement when we get the paperwork signed. I hope this is viewed as a pretty bold statement."
