Dear Dr. Michael M. Piechowski,
We are a research team working under Prof .Yu Ku Siu-yin,Helen in the Department of Applied Social Science, in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The major concern of our work is to understand how to nurture the gifted and talented children in Hong Kong.
To identify traits of gifted, we so far use the scales from Renzulli, J.S. and the scales developed by our Prof. Helen Yu for studying certain traits of social emotional behavior of gifted children. However, we are still facing the lack of instrument in our work.
As I myself was identified gifted fifteen years ago at the age of 10 and as a representative of our team, I am raising my interest in your publications ‘Mellow Out’ They Say. If I Only Could. Intensities and Sensitivities of the Young and Bright. I also discover that the Overexcitabilities Scale , OEQ-2, would be the instrument we are looking for.
Believing that one’s question may also be other’s, I always have questions like “Do gifted young feel more difficult to share feeling with their friends and feel uncomfortably lonely many times? “, “ Are gifted young easily irritated by other people’s comments?” , “Why the gifted parents cannot take it easy to face the complexity of their past?” I am eager for the book ‘Mellow Out’ if it can help the two gifted generation to understand each other better.
The publisher of ‘ Mellow Out’ is Yunasa Books. But the publisher’s email contacts are not provided. For another we do not know whether we can be authorized to use this OEQ-2 for our further quantitative research. Moreover, are there any instructions or recommendations to use this OEQ?
It would be our honor if you can give us your answer and provide us an email contact of the person responsible for Yunasa Books in order that we can order the book ‘Mellow out’ through our University book store.
Best Regards,
Godwin Leung
