Ruby Robe: Patrón Perfectionist Competition 2017

 

 

I don't know what you guys think the color red representing for?

Maybe fire, strength, maybe blood, war, dangerousness, desire, love etc.

This cocktail its name: Ruby Robe.

Patrón Silver
Prucia Plum Liqueur
Red Bell Pepper Juice
Lime Juice
Sichuan Peppercorns Syrup
Chinese Aged Black Vinegar

 

The red gem, also known as ruby.

It gives me the courage to challenge myself and look at the cocktails world.

Wearing this robe makes me full of energy to face difficulties.

 

There are many different Mixologists in this world.

Everyone has their own style, skill, bias, 

They have different interest in using spirits.

 

In this cocktail, I'll like to use Patrón Silver.

It tastes simple and more forthright agave flavor.

And not like the aging of the Reposado and Añejo with a calm feeling and taste,

Patrón Silver is much better to show the charter of fire, of courage, of the youngness.

 

The mixability of Tequila really is best in a balancing mixed drink with fresh fruits.

It is not limited to just a few fruit flavors, either.

I combine some fresh Red Bell Pepper Juice and Prucia Plum Liqueur,

The sweetened agave comes through the back of the plum and red bell pepper in such a delightful way that is hard to resist.

 

BUT!

A cocktail can't just have sweetness.

I add some lime juice, let the sourness to balance the sweetness.

 

Okay now, let's bring some fun!

This is Sichuan Peppercorn Syrup,

which is a popula using ingredents in China as traditional Sichuan cuisine.

The powerful numbing sensation it causes around the mouth.

Normally most of the people just boiled, but my way is to blend it together.

It is the only way to keep the numbing sensation and it won't lose the flavor.

 

Last but not least, this is the key ingredients in this cocktail.

The Chinese Aged Black Vinegar, which is a aged vinegar product mixed with some spice.

This vinegar will bring out the layer of this cocktail.

Because one of the using spice is Sichuan peppercorn.

 

Shake, double strain into a Rock glass over hand-carved big ice cube.

Garnish with some Sichuan Peppercorns and Coriander.

 

For me, the colour red is representing for my passion of mixology.

And I won't give up.
