The small towns of India ¤ÀÃþ: g-suite cardinal man...

Indian opposition candidate Narendra Modi is seen as a business-friendly reformer who has attracted investment and bolstered economic growth in Gujarat.

KASBA BONLI, India — Kasba Bonli is a newly prosperous market town in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan and it should be a perfect advertisement for the ruling Congress party's pro-farmer policies. Instead the buzz in the bazaar is for the opposition.

In just a few years, handouts for farmers by Congress have helped turn the once-deprived village into a thriving retail centre, selling everything from glittery bangles to satellite dishes.

The Congress party-led government pours at least $20 billion a year into rural India in addition to free education and health and cheap food. Cheap fertilizer, otterbox iPhone 5/5S case seeds and electricity, 100 days of guaranteed paid work a year and new rural roads have given farmers cash to spend.

These funds have helped create an emerging middle class, mostly in semi-urban and small towns, which one estimate has put at almost a quarter of India's 1.2 billion people.

But many in this new middle class believe the next step up the income ladder will come when the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Narendra Modi, its candidate for prime minister and currently the chief minister of neighboring Gujarat state, will be in power. That bodes ill for Congress ahead of a general election that must be held by May.

Farmer Raghuvir Meena, who voted for Congress in the last state polls, bought two new tractors over the past few years and nearly doubled his farming area, attributing the prosperity to better farming techniques and seeds. He sent three of his four children to college to train as teachers. Now he wants to get out of farming and this time Modi has his vote.

"Modi's track record in Gujarat has excited the youth. Even I would love to see BJP come back to power, for my kids, for their jobs," he said, juggling phone calls on his mobile.

Modi is widely seen as a business-friendly reformer who has attracted investment and bolstered economic growth in Gujarat, Casing Otterbox Commuter providing jobs to many.

For Congress this trend in the small towns is the latest in a series of reverses. It is already battling slowing economic growth, perceptions of poor governance, several corruption scandals and the growing popularity of Modi.

For decades, Congress relied on its pro-farmer policies giving it rural votes. Then, at the last election in 2009, it gained wide support in cities during a period of fast economic growth to win a second consecutive term in office.

However, the urban goodwill is fast eroding because of corruption and a sense of policy drift, while its base constituency of rural poor is shrinking.

"It's a new phenomenon. It's not something that we have been used to in the past," said Jairam Ramesh, India's rural development minister, of the demographic shift.

"Very often experience shows that beneficiaries of programs instituted by one party end up voting for the other political party," he said.

MODI'S ALLURE

Beyond the commercial bustle, Kasba Bonli has little to offer to the groups of twenty-somethings who loiter on motorcycles in the dusty market, unable to find work.

Often the first graduates in their families, these young men say they want industries and professional jobs rather than more handouts, and they look to Modi for providing such opportunities, OtterBox Defender Series not Congress.

Dawn lawmakers immunity ¤ÀÃþ: g-suite cardinal man...

The crackdown on the party came after the fatal stabbing of 34-year-old Greek rapper Pavlos Fyssas, which sparked violent protests in Greece.

ATHENS, Greece  — Greece's Parliament lifted the immunity from prosecution of six lawmakers from the extreme right-wing Golden Dawn party on Wednesday, as part of a crackdown on the group sparked by the fatal stabbing last month of a Greek rapper.

Golden Dawn lawmakers walked out before the vote, which saw near-unanimous approval.

The government argues the party operates as a criminal organization g-suite cardinal manchester. Golden Dawn argues that the case against it is politically motivated.

"I am being prosecuted for what I believe in, and not for my actions," Panagiotis Iliopoulos, one of the lawmakers whose immunity was lifted, said in Parliament ahead of the vote.

Three other top party members, including its leader Nikos Michaloliakos, have been jailed pending trial on charges of running or participating in a criminal group. It was the first time since democracy was restored in Greece after the 1974 end of a seven-year military dictatorship that sitting members of Parliament have been jailed.

With Greece plunged into a financial crisis, Golden Dawn rose from a fringe group to win 18 of Parliament's 300 seats in 2012 elections, despite widespread accusations it organizes attacks on immigrants, political opponents and gays.

Now Greece's third most popular party, Golden Dawn denies it is neo-Nazi, although many prominent members have an affinity for Nazi symbols and slogans.

The crackdown on the party came after the death of 34-year-old Pavlos Fyssas, a rap musician who was stabbed as he left a cafe on the outskirts of Piraeus. A man arrested at the scene of the attack admitted to the stabbing and identified himself as being involved in Golden Dawn.

None of the six lawmakers have been charged with any involvement in Fyssas' death. Instead, they are expected to be charged with involvement in a criminal group and some also with public disturbance offenses.

The party has vehemently denied it had anything to do with Fyssas' stabbing.

"It is clear that the aim you all have is to politically disarm Golden Dawn. It is the aim of all of you to exclude Golden Dawn from elections," said Ilias Kassidiaris, the party spokesman and one of the six deputies who saw his immunity lifted. Greece is to hold local elections next year.

"We are the subject of a disgusting conspiracy, with illegal and unconstitutional arrests ordered by a government that is enslaved to foreign interests and is selling out the country," Kassidiaris said g-suite in oldham.

An investigation into the group has led to police raids on party offices and the homes of some party members and supporters, as well as on those of police officers accused of turning a blind eye or helping with alleged Golden Dawn illegal activity.

More than 30 arrest warrants were issued, and the searches have uncovered homemade shields, knives, bats and some firearms.

In a statement Wednesday, police said that a search of a Greek businessman's home near Athens uncovered about 30 registered firearms, a collection of knives, three dozen laser sights for firearms, an anti-tank shell and Nazi memorabilia cardinal manchester. The search was carried out following allegations that the businessman, who is wanted by Greek authorities on unrelated charges, may have been providing weapons to Golden Dawn.

The party issued a statement denying any link with the businessman, who has not been named in accordance with Greek privacy laws.

Monese, the mobile current account banking app ¤ÀÃþ: News

You wait all day for a multi-currency account and three come along at once. Give or take a month or so, that¡¦s appears to be the case with news that Monese, the London fintech that offers a mobile banking app and current account, is adding support for Euro accounts. It follows Revolut and Transferwise¡¥s recently launched multi-currency offerings, albeit they are targeting a different segment of the banking market reenex cps.

Specifically, as of sometime next month, you¡¦ll be able to open a Monese account in 19 different European countries, in addition to the U.K. European accounts will be available in local languages, while the premise is that they will, for all tents and purposes, act like a local Euro bank account with its own IBAN number.

¡§Users will be able to sign up for a Euro account via the app, and can also have a GBP account at the same time,¡¨ says the company. ¡§Individuals working in different European countries will be able to receive salary payments into their local account, without being charged excessive fees for doing so. Currently, over 75 per cent of Monese¡¦s GBP customer accounts are used as salary receiving accounts&rdquo ;.

More broadly, the move to support Eurozone countries makes a lot of sense for Monese¡¦s target customer: people, including expats/immigrants, who are currently underserved by traditional and incumbent banking services. It is also a recognition that people are becoming more nomadic and international, moving from one country to another, either for work or socially.

Added to this the fact that Mosese reckons there are 138 million people still unbanked in Europe, and expanding its target market beyond the U.K. is a no-brainer now that it has built out and tested its core offering, including settling on a revenue model that sees it charge a transparent monthly fee for using your Monese current account .
