|Blade & Soul: Name Reservation
|Blade and Soul is a Korean martial arts MMO that utilizes fighting as its predominant source of leveling up. Different from other MMOs focused on magic and fantasy, Blade and Soul will be releasing in North America and Europe on January 19th. Players can get a head start, however, and begin reserving their in-game character names today.
Name Reservation for Disciple and Master Founder's Pack owners begins January 11, 2016 at 7pm CET for the Blade and Soul's European servers, and 6pm PST for North American servers with Blade & Soul Gold. When Name Reservation begins you'll be allowed to log in, and servers for your region will be available to create characters on. Please be aware of which region you're logging in to from the drop down on the launcher.
If you participated in any of the Closed Beta weekends, you'll need to reinstall the game before Name Reservation. While it's not necessary to uninstall any previous clients, it is recommended. You can download the Blade & Soul launch client here.
If you own a Disciple Founder's Pack you'll be able to log in, select a server, and create one (1) character in your region. The character will remain there until you're able to begin playing at Head Start on January 15. If you own a Master Founder's pack you'll be able to create two (2) characters, and reserve two character names. Be aware that Initiate Founder's Pack owners will not be able to reserve a character name, but it is still possible to upgrade to a Disciple or Master pack.
Your character name isn't guaranteed to be available as other players will be registering names at the same time. It's recommended to try reserving your character name as soon as possible. Knowing which server you want to play on, your race and class, as well as character appearance options can all help reduce the time needed to secure a name. Also be aware that your Disciple or Master Founder's Packs come with either one or two Character Alteration Vouchers that you can use to change the appearance of your character later once Head Start begins.
You only have a few days left to Buy Blade And Soul Gold and get in on Name Reservation and Head Start, get a stockpile of in-game NCoin currency, and receive rare boosts and bonuses—as well as costumes and weapon looks that will never be available again.
|Blade & Soul Customers
|Apparently it's been taken to the proper department manager, whether there will be any action taken is yet to be seen.
Thank you for contacting the Blade-Soul support team.
We wanted to assure you that we take this and any other reports of employee behavior very seriously and will forward the provided information to the relevant department manager. As these are internal matters, please understand that our support team will not be able to update you directly regarding this situation. Any further update on this matter will be published on our website and/or social media platforms.
We appreciate all of our customers and apologize for any problem that this has caused. You’re a valued customer and we’re committed to providing you with the best service possible.
I enjoy how one of the employees is essentially making for of people complaining. IMO it's not that big of a deal as well.. and really doesn't bother me, because I have cheap Blade And Soul Power leveling. However there is some guy somewhere that wanted a chance at Kirito/Naruto etc.. and that guy is upset. To then make fun of that customer base is extremely unprofessional. It reminds me a lot of the Gamestop video where the girl won't give up a preorder because the guy has no ID, which is fair..but then proceeds to belittle him and attack him in front of all of the other customers. :/ Show a little respect, even for the customers you don't agree with.
|Is Blade & Soul Worth Playing
|To start, I don't want this thread to be bashing the two games against each other in a fanboy flame conflict. I just have a question concerning Blade and Soul in comparison to GW2.
What's mostly attracting me to Blade and Soul is the aesthetic. As an Asian, I don't really see a lot of such touches into MMOs these days. Even GW2 is quite stingy on Asian aesthetic thus far (at least...you need more BNS Gold). I was thinking about trying out Blade and Soul for that reason...as well as the good combat I have heard about from many reviews.
So...is Blade and Soul worth investing some time in, coming from Guild Wars 2? Some more specific questions I have include:
-How do the stories compare? Is there a strong sense of lore?
-Are the customization options good?
-Is the cash shop a big issue? To clarify, I don't mind paying for the occasional outfit. However, I will get annoyed if the cash shop is pretty much essential to have a decent game experience (ahem Star Wars: The Old Republic -_-)
-How grindy is it? I don't mind working for my goods, but I really don't want to be putting hours on end into the game. That being said, I'm hoping for something a bit more grindy than Guild Wars 2...though not by much if possible :).
bns and gw2 largely play the same, but the main difference as far as im concerned is bns is going to feel way, way more linear. You're more or less doing the same sorts of things, questing in bns or hearts in gw2, but gw2 is just built to make you feel like you're in a more alive world. There's also the public event chains and mastery stuff at endgame now, world completion, fractals, kind of indepth and unique collections/achievement system.
basically, gw2 just has a lot going on in it, and that's really the main reason Id kind of put it above bns. So with that said, I REALLY love bns too, it's just a lot Blade & Soul Items. The stories... gw2 has really good lore, but pretty poor storytelling in my opinion. bns has amazing storytelling, and really awesome cutscenes, and as far as the lore goes I have no idea though because it was all in chinese.
The customization in bns is great, tons of options and the ability to make some pretty unique toons (that still look good, though you can make some freakish ones too if you were inclined)
|Blade & Soul Class Discussoins
|Since before we even announced the game, we had various Mascots that represented each class, each with a name. You see them in the website and the trailers. For example, "Ruby" is our Assassin. I reserved a lot of these gem names because the mascots will be in the game and used for various purposes such as creating video content or participating in in-game events. I needed the names to be "clean" so that they would be easily recognizable and identified as a special character of sorts.
In regards to popular NPC names being taken: this should have been expected. No, you cannot play "Mushin" on "Mushin" server.
In regards to our CMs having multiple names: this is tricky waters, so please understand (I'm also jet lagged so not the most coherent). A GM character cannot switch servers currently, so GM characters are dedicated to 1 server. In normal circumstances, GMs and CMs just use the same name across all servers, but we don't have that luxury. Those who are expected to have a GM-type role in the game was given the ability to reserve up to 7 names to be used as GM names to Buy Blade And Soul Gold. The general rule of thumb for GM names is to have either a personal moniker or a name that is easily recognizable and identifiable as someone special. Yes, I understand that they could also use "GM_Naruto" instead of "Naruto", but this brings me to my last point:
Shady people sell popular names. To me, that's more unfair than losing out on the lottery for the name that you want, because someone has come in and reserved a name specifically so that they can earn money on it. You want a definition of pay to win? THAT is it right there - a person paying $400 just to have Naruto and bypassing the lottery system. We have, in the past, reserved popular names in order to prevent this sort of shady stuff from happening. I can't speak for Youmukon right now, since I'm on the road, but it's highly possible that this is a scenario that is occurring and that the names will be released later on in a more fair manner that prevents this sort of account/name selling. This is not uncommon; its just unfortunate that we have the character lookup so you can see a lot of the inner workings of the game being prepared for launch.
Please be assured, we're not trying to screw you out of your money or rig the system or anything of the sort. There was always a chance that the name you wanted would not be available for various reasons to get cheap Blade & Soul Gold. Many of the complaints that I'm reading are legit and valid; but we're employees of NCSoft first, and gamers next, not the other way around. Our priority is the experience of the game for our players first and a lot of what we do is not meant to put ourselves as the first one to score a much-desired anime name, but keep an eye out for all the potential pitfalls that can ,and have, arisen.
Lastly, I apologise if I came across as dismissive and flippant. I was having a light-hearted banter regarding reserving Naruto, given my history with the name, and did not realise until too late that my playful tone would not necessarily be interpreted as such and I did not consider the level of disappoint or hurt that many people are experiencing because they felt unfairly treated. I apologise again
